Recent Advances in Injection Molding

One of the easiest and widely used ways for manufacturing plastic products has been injection molding.  The resin of plastic is injected into the mold - preferably pet preform molds and dies - for producing plastic parts and products, having the most complex of contours and demanding physical features.  Furthermore, the spiraling use of injection molding can be credited to its capacity for bulk manufacturing dimensionally precise engineering components.

The technology of injection molding has been heralded as a critical plastic manufacturing technique. With the advances in technology, there have been many tweaks made in the injection molding technique. Presently, the technological developments in injection molding allow the plastic manufacturers to use substitute to the conventional material, thus reducing an end product’s weight and giving them freedom of design. Such technological updates have also impacted the way a PetMoulds Manufacturer India designs the molds.

The technological improvements in injection molding process

Integration of computer technology:
The latest injection molding equipment relies heavily on the use of computers for its operations. Nowadays, most of the general operations (feeding of resins, injecting molten material to the mold, etc.) of an injection molding machinery are controlled by its built-in computer.

Micro injection molding:
The highest level of precision is required in the contours while manufacturing minute components. The micro injection molding technology was developed to address such needs of plastic manufacturers. The micro injection unit is determined for small-sized plastic that needs to be processed. Micro injection unit can be incorporated in injection molding machinery for achieving a clamping force of close to 500 kN.

Multiple component injection technology:
The term refers to a sandwich technology that includes several other technologies such as:-

  •   Water injection technique
  •   Gas injection technique
  •   Co-injection technique
  •  Mono-sandwich technique

The modern injection molding has become an indispensible element in manufacturing several plastic components such as electrical switches, power-tool housing, battery casing, and so forth.
